Nigerian turntable talent, Allwell John Ibama better known as DJ Kev is thrilled to land a major performance gig with American lifestyle TV giant, BET International.
The performance booking was confirmed in a correspondence with Collins Harris, Senior Director, Production & Development, BET International which was sighted by this reporter. The gig will take place on Friday June 24th at Grammy Museum, Rooftop Terrace, Los Angeles.
The two and half hours performance tagged International Welcome Party would have in attendance American music industry top-shots including artistes, executives and other celebrities to mention but few.
Speaking about the gig, the Nigerian born-talent of Rivers State origin expressed his excitement. “I have looked forward to moments such as this. I’m happy that my artistry and talent is gaining more acceptability from diverse audience and cultures which has always been the goal. I cannot wait to kill the show with my exquisitely curated playlist and skills showcase. Definitely, this would not be my last with BET as I anticipate more of such gigs.”
His career as Disc Jockey took off when he moved from Nigeria and to Minsk, the capital of Belarus where he studied Mechanical Engineering at the Belarusian State University. With an ambition to play on the big stage, the turn-table talent moved to Los Angeles, United States in 2010.
With a dint of his hardwork, he has been recognized as Best African DJ (Diaspora) and Best Independent DJ (Universal) by African Fashion And Music Award (AFRIFAMU) Hollywood and African Prestigious Awards (HAPA), respectively.
DJ Kev plays up to four gigs weekly in the city of Atlanta at some of the biggest clubs such as Privacy Lounge, XO Lounge and Living Room Lounge among others. Constantly leveraging his craft to push Afrobeats music, DJ Kev has worked with a lot of artist like Runtown, Davido, Timaya, Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade and Teni among others.
