Prominent Actors and Groups within Nollywood has thrown their support behind Desmond Elliott who is running to represent Surulere Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, in the upcoming state elections, scheduled for Saturday, March 11th, 2023. He is contesting as the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a joint statement, the Nollywood Mandate Group and Code Door2Door Initiative praised Elliott for his leadership skills, commitment to social justice, empowerment of Actors, selfless service and community development.

Francis Onwochei, Coordinator of the Nollywood Mandate Group opined that Desmond is big on driving entrepreneurship in the constituency and aside from providing training opportunities has helped over 1500 Surulere residents register their businesses free with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), facilitated free medical health insurance coverage to about 1000 residents, and ensured the provision of 300kva and 500kva new transformers to various communities in Surulere.
He noted that Desmond appreciates the power of education to transform lives and is always present and willing to lecture both registered /unregistered members on free-acting training, organized by the industry’s associations. He also rebuilt Itolo girls at Itolo off Eric Moore Road, in addition to involvement in other school activities around the constituency.
As part of efforts to curtail the menace of flooding, he consistently works to ensure that the canals and major drainages in the constituency are cleared before the rains start.
Education is paramount to him. Scores of secondary schools in his constituency have been trained and equipped with Digital Technology Skills among others.
That is not all, during the heat of the global pandemic, Hon. Desmond Olusola Elliott, as Chairman of AGN COVID-19 Committee provided relief materials to over 1000 constituency members including actors. He was a leading voice that was advocating comfort for the vulnerable who were badly hit by the pandemic. He made a case for health workers who are the frontline fighters combating the scourge.
Therefore, as the State Assembly and Governorship elections draw closer, the coast is clear for the performing Desmond Elliotts to return to the Lagos State House of Assembly.
