House of Assembly primary: Group affirms candidature of Ola Western

…Vows to resist imposition of candidate

A coalition of several civil society organisations in Amuwo-Odofin under the aegis of Amuwo Arise for Good Governance (AAGG) has affirmed the candidature of Folorunso Olaitan Segun in the just concluded All Progressives Congress House of Assembly primaries in the Amuwo – Odofin constituency 1.

The group also threatened to resist any attempt to change the result that INEC  has officially  declared saying it will tantamount to short-changing democracy and the progress made in terms of democratic development in Amuwo-Odofin.

Speaking in Lagos, the convener, Amuwo Arise for Good Governance, Honourable, Cecil Okereke  said: “ In the keenly contested election which threw up five aspirants to be voted for by 20 delegates, Mr. Folorunsho Olaitan Segun popularly known as Ola Western emerged winner  in a landslide, defeating the incumbent, Hon Mojisola Alli-Macaulay and three others. Declaring him winner of the primary in the presence of all the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials, party officials, stakeholders, aspirant agents and other observers, the returning officer, Mr. Akin Omooba Falada noted that Folunrunso Olaitan Segun scored the highest number of votes (12) while the incumbent, Hon. Mojisola Alli-Macaulay and Prince Adeshina scored four (4) votes each. The other two aspirants got zero vote.

Adding , he said: “ At this juncture , we must state emphatically and unequivocally that any attempt by anybody or group of persons to mortgage the will of the people is tantamount to short – changing  democracy and the progress made in terms of democratic development  in Amuwo –Odofin. Such evil move will however, be vehemently resisted. The peace in Amuwo –Odofin should not be breached just to satisfy the selfish interest of somebody especially at this time of high level of insecurity in the country.”

While congratulating other winners in the various positions in Lagos State, Okereke and Women leader of Ola Western campaign team, Alhaja Olamide Asuramo and Comrade Olatunji Olapoju, a representative of Amuwo Odofin Concerned Youth Forum  extended their appreciation to the national leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who affirmed that primary election must hold in Lagos state as well as the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Sanwo-Olu; former deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Idiat Adebule, Prince Lanre Sanusi and the apex leaders in Amuwo-Odofin.
