Enrolment of All Nigerians In The National Identity Database (NIDB) Commences


Nigerians in Diaspora Organization Worldwide (NIDOWW), in collaboration with various Nigerian organizations in the Diaspora, will commence the mobilization of all Nigerians for enrolment into the National Identity Database (NIDB) starting from the 30 March 2019.
The flag-off of the pre-enrolment exercise took place during the Diaspora Global Development Conference in London, UK, which took place on 26-28 July 2018 at the CEME Conference Centre. 
This was contained in a statement signed by Engr. Prof. E. C. Ejiogu (Chairman, NIDO Asia); Dr. Obinna Kingsman (Chairman, NIDO Africa); Hon. Kenneth Gbandi (Chairman, NIDO Europe); Engr. Obed Monago (Chairman, NIDO Americas) and Hon. Gary Linus Unamadu (Chairman, NIDO Oceania).
The statement said that the flag-off ceremony was performed by Barr. Hadiza Ali Dagabana, GM Legal, Regulations and Compliance Services of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) with the gracious support of Dr. Hannatut Fika Adamu, the Executive Secretary, Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board (FGSHLB), who represented the Head of Service of the Federal Government of Nigerian at the event.
Biosec Solutions, an Identity Management Consultancy which is the NIDOWW Strategic Enrolment partner, conducted the demonstration. Building on the successful official flag-off, NIDO Worldwide in collaboration with all Diaspora organizations hereby request all NIDO continental Bodies in collaboration with all Nigerian organizations and other Diaspora stakeholders to mobilize their members for the enrolment of all Nigerians into the National Identity Database (NIDB).
The enrolment is to ensure that all Diaspora Nigerians are well documented in the National Identity Management System of the Federal Government of Nigeria. Apart from the fact that the unique National Identification Number (NIN) is mandatory for all Nigerians, the exercise also has important social and economic implications for the Diaspora. Think of the possibility of Diaspora Voting!
Starting from the 30th March 2019, we are all encouraged to visit Diaspora partner designated link as directed by the continental Chairs for pre-enrolment and appointment for biometric data capture. Once an appointment is secured, you will be directed to the official designated locations for the biometric data capture.
The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has the mandate to carry out the enrolment of citizens and legal residents as provided for in the Act establishing it, create and operate a National Identity Database (NIDB), issue unique National Identification Number (NIN) to qualified citizens and legal residents.
To achieve this objective, NIDO Worldwide is partnering with Biosec Solutions, NIMC’s approved vendor to facilitate NIMC Diaspora Data capture. Data obtained through the pre- enrolment exercise are international privacy laws compliant.
