For his immense contributions and commitment in promoting cinema in the African continent and his consistency of 20 years of Abuja International Film Festival, consummate filmmaker and film festival organizer, Fidelis Duker was recently honoured at the just concluded 28th edition of the Pan African Film and Television Festival (FESPACO) in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
With a heart of gratitude, Duker who is former president of Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN) and Chairman, FAD FM writes on his facebook page; 2 days ago Members of the Federation of Burkina Faso Filmmakers decided to honor me for my humble contribution to African cinema and of course 20 years of Abuja International Film Festival on the sidelines of the 28th Edition of Fespaco which ended on Saturday in Ouagadougou Burkina Faso
Recall, Duker was named as a member of the jury for the ‘Ecowas Special Prize’ at the festival.
FESPACO is a major event that brings together filmmakers and distributors of cinema and television products in Ouagadougou every two years in a bid to contribute to the promotion and development of the market for cinematographic works in the sub-region.
This year’s festival which is supported by ECOWAS through the HDSA is themed; Cinema and Culture Peace.
